The big bed project

So, here comes another one that is very overdue. Truth is, I needed to let this one settle down a little before I could face writing this blog post or editing the video that comes with it.

My goodness did this bed take everything out of me that I had to give!

And to think that just a little over a year ago I would have squeeled at the opportunity to work on something like this and most definitely would have soaked up every minute of it.

I don't know when it happened or how but at some point over this past year and a half-ish, I completely lost interest or joy of painted furniture.

Don't get me wrong, I still love it, but only to look at.

I did not quite realise that this is how I felt when I handed over my debit card at my local British Heart Foundation charity shop and arranged a delivery date for this monster of a project.

But it was also a necessary project. This one didn't have the "I could paint and sell it" motive behind it. This one was a "I need a good solid bed" and I cannot afford the thousands of pounds for a new one purchase.

So there it was. It arrived the day before my sons birthday, which wasn't ideal, and took up my whole living room for 3 weeks.

Which admittedly, was a lot less than it could have been, but jeeez, the sheer size of it. There was no room for anything else.

For those of you not in the know, UK houses are not big by any means and mine isn't an exception.

And the whole time I worked on it it was just A LOT. I banged my legs against it, it blocked my desk and getting through to the other side of the room was a chore!

So it was one of those that I just had to fit in in every spare moment of my day along with my day job, social media pages, and everything else!!!

(But I have to say, I did enjoy the gold leaf as I usually do!)

So anyway!

Here is a little video of me working on this huge project, and unfortunately I don't have any photos of it put together mostly because my bedroom and where this bed now lives is not a photo friendly space, at all!

And to conclude it all, I think I'm done with furniture... (In my house and for the time being at least) Funny how you can spend 10 years of your life thinking that this is exactly what you want to do and have that as your ultimate goal of what you want to do, only to then realise that actually, I do not want this AT ALL..
